Equality

 

Equality. The saying that typically follows is that white people need to start inviting more people of color to the table. What? This has always infuriated me. Why do they need to be invited to the table? Why can't they seat themselves? Why do white people hold on to the invites and get to pick and choose who gets them? Doesn't this just prove that equality is not yet here? In this drawing, I also wanted to make the point that to even be invited people of color have to go through different white people and WOC have to go through different white men. They are not allowed to falter or make mistakes if they want a glimpse of equality... so is that really equality? I made this drawing with certain ideas and things in mind, but I think there is a lot more to be said. What do y'all think when you see this?
